Melfort MLA discusses fall session of legislature

A busy fall session of the legislature has wrapped up, and a local MLA is weighing in on some of the hot-button topics.

Melfort MLA Todd Goudy said there are a number of outstanding issues that are of major importance to the residents of the constituency, and the province as a whole.

“I think the main things affecting the whole province today are the whole pipeline issue and the carbon tax,” Goudy said. “That’s the big news for us and it can seem like it’s getting covered more than maybe it should be, but boy-oh-boy, when you see that revenue stream for all of our social programs comes from our industry, and oil, potash, these are the kind of things that we really need to work on to make sure that our social programs continue to be funded to the levels that we’d all like to see them funded to.”

Goudy said they recently held a meeting in Melfort with local rural municipalities and town councils to discuss a number of topics affecting local areas.
