The Battlefords North Stars have announced the hiring of a new assistant coach who will work alongside head coach Brayden Klimosko on the bench.

Rob Holoien, from Melfort, has coached the last two and half years for the Junior B Carrot River Outback Thunder hockey club.

With three years’ experience playing Junior A hockey prior to his transition to coaching, including a 15 game stint with the North Stars during the 2005-06 season, and a league championship in 2003-04 with the Tisdale Trojan Midget AAA team, Holoien said he is “very thankful for the opportunity to work for this great organization.”

Klimosko said he is happy to have Holoien join the team.
