Work wrapping up around Muskoday Bridge

Dec 11, 2018 | 9:19 AM

Work is wrapping up around the Muskoday Bridge and drivers are once again being urged to slow down and obey all posted traffic signs while in the area.

Construction crews have now opened it to two-lane traffic. Kim Deneau works with Eiffage, which is handling traffic control in the area. She said workers are cleaning up the bridge deck and work is continuing both under and around the bridge.

“We still have workers out there visible to motorists,” Deneau told paNOW. “We still will have a construction zone in place right through until the 22nd of December, so that means that the bridge speed zones will still be down to 50 kilometres … we’re still not quite done, there’s still work ongoing.”

Deneau has spoken previously about concerns over impatient and inattentive drivers.

“We still have workers out there visible to motorists, the traffic lights are still in place as of today and possibly into tomorrow, and I’ve got my fingers crossed that they’ll be off by Wednesday at the latest.”

Although both lanes of traffic will soon open again, machinery and workers will still be present to finish clean-up efforts in the weeks to come.

“It’s still a construction zone, it’s just no longer a single lane, so we still need compliance from motorists,” Deneau added. “There’s a lot of detail that goes into being able to open up a bridge to full traffic … until all the signs are gone, it’s still a construction zone.”
