It’s the end of an era in Star City.

The town's final elevator came crashing to the ground yesterday.

"It's a sad thing to see," Mayor Ron Campbell told northeastNOW. "It's not a good thing, we would like to see everything stay the way it is but like you say that's just how it's going these days. It is what it is, you might say."

Campbell said the elevator was torn down because it was no longer in use and was in need of several repairs. The elevator was privately-owned.

Campbell said at one time, there were six or seven elevators that dotted Star City's landscape.

Town staff are asking any with memories of the grain elevator, or photos of its demolition, to share on the town's Facebook page.
