Codette Community Centre holding open house

There will soon be a chance for residents in and around the Village of Codette to check out the improved Community Centre.

An open house is being held on Jan. 11 at the centre where the rink will be open for public skating. Community Centre Board Member, Sharlene Penner, said the rink, formally the curling rink, is better now.

“There was a sidewalk running down the centre between the two sheets of ice,” Penner told northeastNOW. “Ellis [Dean] took that out for skating area, so you can now skate the whole rink.”

Not only was the centre piece taken out of the rink, a new spot was put together for putting on skates. There is now an insulated dressing room that was also built by Ellis Dean.

Penner said the open house gives people a chance to check out what the centre has to offer. She called it a great local point for gathering, meetings, and other events.

She said the open house also allows people to come and be together as a community.

“They can come to look at the building and play pickleball,” Penner said. “They can go skating. They can have coffee and tea. They can visit.”

Penner said she wants the open house to be an opportunity for people to see what the village, and community centre has to offer in Codette.
