The North East SPCA is hosting a cabaret Saturday night at the Kerry Vickar Centre to raise funds.

"We're trying to fundraise to finish off the shelter and to bring in funds to run the shelter once we open up, and hopefully that will be late spring" SPCA Chair Pat Shiels said. "[Playing the cabaret is] 40 oz. Philosophy and they're a super band. We always get a great crowd to come out for this. We have been doing it for the last I think three years now."

Advance tickets are $10 and are available at Birds of Paradise and the Quarter Inch Quilt Shop in Melfort.

Tickets are being sold at the door for $15.

Shiels said progress is being made on the shelter build adding once materials come in, the siding and roof will go up on the structure. The shelter will be hooked up for electricity in roughly three weeks.

The shelter is being built at 605 Hamilton Ave.
