Humboldt BBBS hosting 38th annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake

Jan 15, 2019 | 11:43 AM

The Humboldt Chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) will host their premier fundraising event in just under three weeks.

Bowl for Kids Sake sees participants collect pledges prior to bowling at Kemway Lanes during the week of Feb. 4.

Jodie Hergott with BBBS said there is a theme to go with the bowling portion each year.

“We are looking for Elvis, we are looking for the Village People, and KISS to come walking through those doors and do a little bowling all in support of mentoring,” Hergott said.

The fundraising goal for this year is $35,000.

“Last year we did a little over $30,000 and I think two years ago they did actually meet the $30,000 goal,” Hergott said.

It is the 38th annual tournament and Hergott said the community always embraces it whole-heartedly and they typically see 400 to 500 people take part.

To get registered call the BBBS office 682-2829 and then call Kemway Lanes at 682-2344 to book a lane.

The wait list for BBBS is sitting at 19 right now and Hergott is hoping that more mentors will step up this year.
