Big Brothers Big Sisters declares Big Foot Friday

This Friday is Big Foot Friday in Melfort.

Volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) will deliver big foot donuts made by the Golden Grain Bakery to those who pre-order.
 
Kathryn Carswell with BBBS said this is a successful campaign for them.
 
“It’s our second annual Big Foot Friday. We ran it last January as well in celebration of mentoring month across Canada and actually across all of North America and it was well recieved,” Carswell said. “We inquired to see if people were interested if we continued with doing it and it was a resounding yes. People were very excited to have big foots delivered to their door.”
 
BBBS has an ongoing wait list for mentors and Carswell hopes by running this campaign it will not only raise funds but encourage more volunteers to sign up.
 
“There is always a wait list, we are always searching for more mentors,” Carswell said. “When kids get matched there are kids that get replaced so our waitlist is fluid.”

The donuts will also be available tomorrow at a pop up shop at Penny’s Soup and Sandwich in the Melfort Mall beginning at 11 a.m.
