Alfred Vincent Dewing
April 29, 1944 – March 12, 2026
81 Years
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving Husband and Father Vincent.
Vincent was born at Spalding, Saskatchewan to Alfred and Josephine Dewing (nee Howden). He lived in the Spalding area in his early years and attended country schools. Brightside and Lake Edward as well as the Spalding High School graduating from grade 12.
Vincent worked as a farm laborer at Spalding and Quill Lake, and took one year of electrical training at the Saskatchewan Technical Institute in Moose jaw. Later returning to Spalding again working as a farm laborer.
At a Christmas celebration in 1964 at a neighbors in Quill Lake, was were Vincent met Florence Irene Jacob, who would later become his wife.
Alfred Vincent Dewing and Florence Irene Jacob were united in marriage on March 5, 1966 in Regina at St. Luke’s Anglican Church.
Both working in Regina at the time, they were blessed with two sons, Nolan Farrell and Warren Trent.
During this time Vincent continued his electrical training in Moose Jaw, and worked as an apprentice with electrical companies in Regina and received his journeyman’s papers. He also worked at the Rocanville potash mine near Esterhazy.
Due to the untimely passing of his father Alfred Dewing in April 1970, they decided to move to the Dewing family farm to help his mother and sister.
For the next forty years or so they had a mixed farm, grain, cattle, pigs, turkeys, chickens, and ducks. Together they worked with Vincents uncle Tom Howden , gaining much advice, some years were good and other years not so good. But they progressed and learned as the years went by.
Changes came in 2008 when Vincent was diagnosed with cancer. He went for radiation treatments from January 2009 to March 18, 2009. After several years of checkups, he was given the information that he was cancer free.
In the years following, Vincent decided it was time to retire, and with the land rented out, they were both able to do some travelling in the truck and fifth wheel camper. Traveling to Manitoba and British Columbia visiting relatives near and far.
Vincent was diagnosed with severe dementia in September of 2022 and was cared for at home until February 2024, when he was placed in the Quill Plains Centennial Lodge at Watson, Saskatchewan as he needed more medical care.
Due to severe health problems Vincent was admitted to the Humboldt Hospital on March 6, 2026 and passed away on March 12, 2026.
Vincent will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Florence of 60 years, sons Nolan and Connie Dewing and family, Warren Dewing and his partner Shelly Plantz and family.
