Amanda Christine Metcalfe

Our sweet Amanda Christine was born on December 16th, 1986 in Melfort Saskatchewan. We were instantly smitten by this beautiful little dolly with her big brown eyes and her bald head, and she was immediately adored by all of us.
Amanda spent her first few years in Melfort, and then her family moved to Star City where she started school. A few years later, the Simpsons settled back in Melfort and Amanda attended Broadway School, and eventually MUCC to finish her education. Amanda was incredibly smart, and wise beyond her years. Music was her passion from a very young age and she taught herself how to play multiple instruments, but her flute remained her favorite, and she excelled at it.
Midway through high school Amanda met and fell in love with a Gronlid boy named Steven Metcalfe. They became teenage sweethearts, but their love story was not quite ready to be written at that point. After breaking up, they spent a few years apart, fate brought them back together again in summer of 2005. In the spring of 2006, they moved to Regina and this time Amanda finally got her fairytale ending. Steve eventually proposed, and he and Amanda had their beautiful wedding on Aug. 2, 2008. She worked various jobs there until the birth of their son Christian in 2011. At last, after being an awesome Auntie for years, Amanda had her own perfect little family, and she took great pride in her role as both mother and wife. Amanda, Steve, and Christian enjoyed many years in Regina spending time and making memories with Steve’s family before eventually moving back to her hometown in the winter of 2021. She was thriving in Melfort, and spent most days sewing, rollerblading, and playing her flute to pass the time as she waited for her boys to come home every day.
Amanda was diagnosed with epilepsy as a young child, but never let her seizures interfere with her life. Whether she was facing a school bully, or a brain surgery, Amanda conquered every challenge thrown her way with strength and resilience, and we are so proud of everything she accomplished in her short life.
Amanda tragically left us on February 14th, 2025. She was predeceased by her grandparents, two great uncles, and her cousin, and Amanda leaves behind to mourn her loving husband Steve and son Christian, both sets of parents, siblings, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Heaven gained a beautiful angel on Valentine’s Day, and although we’ll miss her terribly, we know she’s now eternally happy and healthy in the arms of Jesus, and her loving spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
A Service Celebrating Amanda’s life will be held from the Park Avenue Bible Church, Melfort, on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Kelly Taylor officiating. The interment will take place at a later date in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Columbarium.
Friends so wishing may make memorial contributions to a Trust Fund in Amanda’s son Christian’s name.
