With saddened hearts, we announce the passing of Audrey Alice Ashmead (née Scott) at the age of 91 years. Audrey was born on December 14, 1933, to Irving and Janet Scott, and was raised in Melfort, Saskatchewan, where she attended Thaxted School.
Over the years, Audrey worked in several roles, including housekeeping and farm work, before finding her place in the kitchen at Parkland Hospital, where she was known for her hard work and dedication.
In 1954, Audrey welcomed her son Neil into the world. While working at Parkland Hospital, she met Colin Ashmead, a cook there, and the two were married in 1977. Audrey’s grandchildren fondly remember the many fishing trips she and Grandpa Colin took them on, creating treasured memories that will last a lifetime. Audrey enjoyed spending time in her garden, finding satisfaction in watching things thrive under her care and effort. She was also an active and devoted member of the Melfort Legion Branch #30, where she contributed her time and energy to the community she loved.
