The family of Brendon Guy Simms is saddened to announce his passing that occurred on Sunday, December 15th 2024 in Melfort, Sask. Brendon passed away peacefully while at home at Greentree Group Home at the young age of 35.
Brendon was born on June 6th, 1989 at the Melfort Hospital to Guy and Tami Simms. It was a very difficult birth with Brendon having to be airlifted to the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon where he was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. After a stay at the NICU, Brendon returned to Melfort.
Brendon was a bright, cheerful baby despite his many obstacles. His smiles and giggles were contagious despite, and being non-verbal, his beautiful eyes spoke volumes.
Brendon entered kindergarten at Brunswick School and had many wonderful teachers and EA’s who loved and included him in many school activities. With his positive attitude and smile, Brendon made many life long friends.
In September, 1995, Brendon welcomed his baby sister, Danielle, with excitement and open arms. He was over the moon with her arrival. From that day on, he became her protector and never wanted her out of his sight. Brendon adored her.
Brendon later entered Grade 7 at MUCC. His high school years were somewhat difficult as he had to undergo many surgeries, but he faced them head-on and continued to maintain his positive attitude…always a perfect patient.
Brendon always loved to visit with friends and family, loved the outdoors, riding on ATV’s, country road drives and road trips. He loved all animals and they all loved him back. Brendon loved a good joke and loved pranking his sister. He had a fabulous positive attitude.
In 2012, Brendon was the first resident of the Greentree Group Home. While there, he quickly made many more friends with the staff and other residents that arrived afterward. He loved them all as a second family.
Left to remember him, is his mother, Tami (Perry), his sister, Danielle (Gaelan), his father, Guy (Genevieve), his grandparents, Peter and Marlene Simms as well as many aunts, uncles, his Greentree family and many friends.
A service celebrating Brendon’s life will be held from the Kerry Vickar Centre, Melfort, on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 2:00 PM. The interment will take place at a later date.
Friends so wishing may make memorial contributions to the Green Tree Home, Melfort, or to the North East SPCA.
