It is with immense sadness that the family of Brett Matisz announces his passing on August 16th, 2021.
Brett was born in Saskatoon, SK. on June 8th, 1992 to Lucille and Barry Matisz. Brett completed his schooling in Saskatoon and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor’s of Commerce, majoring in Operations Management. It was then that he decided to move out to his grandpa’s farm as he had accepted a position at the St. Brieux golf course. There he met the love of his life Jessica (nee Sorenson) and they started their life together. They were married December 16th, 2017 and in April 2019, Brett and Jessica moved to their acreage by Pleasantdale, SK. During this time, Brett took on a job in Human Resources with the Saskatchewan Health Authority. On March 24th, 2021 they welcomed Ren into their family.
Brett lived his life by the philosophy ‘the simpler the better’. Brett believed the perfect meal was a good hot dog topped off with an energy drink. Brett loved to laugh but more than anything loved to make others laugh, even if it was just a simple caption to a photo. One of Brett’s favourite past times was a good round of golf and it had to be a good one. Like his grandpa LeGatt, Brett enjoyed a nap, whenever or wherever, be it a bed, a couch or a car.
Brett was predeceased by his grandpa Joseph LeGatt, his grandma Emma LeGatt, his aunt Lorette LeGatt, his uncle Marcel LeGatt and Jessica’s grandma Marie LeJan.
Brett leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Jessica (Sorenson), his son Ren, his parents Barry and Lucille (LeGatt) Matisz, his two sisters: Jeannine and Rachelle, his father and mother-in-law: Jed and Giselle (LeJan) Sorenson; his grandparents: John and Marie (Lukan) Matisz, Jessica’s grandma Sally (Nelson) Sorenson, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
A Memorial Service for Brett will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Brieux roman Catholic Church, St. Brieux, SK.
