Carol Ann Hadland, age 75, passed away peacefully at home on March 17, 2020.
Born on November 24, 1944, in Kinistino, SK, to the late Olaf & Helen Hadland. Carol grew up with her brother Bryan, on the family farm north of Weldon, SK.
After high school, Carol worked in administration for Dr. Martinson, the Weldon CO-OP, Haven of Hope, the Melfort Bingo Hall & the Melfort Bus Depot until she retired to Birch Hills, SK in 2008.
While raising teenage girls, her home was always the hub for friends to congregate. It was a special place offering a good chat, many laughs, a listening ear, and above all acceptance & guidance. Carol had a love for baking, crocheting, reading, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, spending time at the casino, weekly phone calls to a long list of friends, and gossiping. Not necessarily in that order.
Carol was also an avid sports fan; hockey, golf, baseball & her Blue Jays – she enjoyed it all! But nothing topped her love for the game of curling. Those who knew her best would agree, Carol was the perfect “skip” – she was fun, positive, and just a little bossy. Her “hurry! hard!” attitude helped her build a tight-knit, supportive & successful “team”. A team she loved so very much. She was our planner, our organizer – she believed in team gatherings, and believed they be full of fun, food & drink. We were spoiled rotten. Our skip also had a large number of “fans” – both young & old. She was treasured by these fans she regularly visited with at local nursing homes, and those she talked to on the phone. She truly loved each and every one of you. We are certain you are going to miss her as much as we will. Although our skip didn’t make it to an “extra end”, she gave us her very best each and every outing. Our “team” will go on, but the game will never be the same without her.
Carol is survived by her “team”, including two daughters: Ramona (Murray) and Kathy; grandchildren, Bailey (Carter), Laura, Scott, Trent, Kale & Kalyn; great grandchildren, Payton and Riggins; special grandchildren, Storm, Mel, Adrianna, Joseph, Nevaeh, Sydney, Olivia, Anna & Roman; her brother, Bryan (Nancy); nieces, Heidi (Darren), Jill (Rob) and Paula; as well as great nephews & niece, Brady, Riley, Hadley, Tate, Haaken & Quincy.
Carol is predeceased by her parents, Olaf & Helen Hadland.
Donations can be made to the Birchview Home Auxiliary and Rose Hill Cemetery in Weldon, SK.
A Celebration of Life and burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium Brian and Bev Stobbs, Renée Phaneuf – Funeral Directors. www.MacKenzieChapel.ca . 306.763.8488.
