Connie Maureen Luthi, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on May 6, 2024, at the age of 77. She was born on August 11, 1946, in Outlook, SK, Canada, and resided most recently in Melfort, SK, Canada.
Connie had a diverse range of interests and hobbies, including knitting, crocheting, various crafts, sewing, reading, and playing mahjong on her iPad. Before her diagnosis, Connie thoroughly enjoyed spending time at her and Ken’s cabin at Kip with family and friends. She adored the flowers that Ken planted for her at the lake and at home. She cherished the company of her friends and often recalled laughing and visiting with her dear friend, Shari. Connie was known for celebrating Christmas like no one else – her tree was always beautifully decorated (by November 1st!), and she filled the air with the sounds of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” by Elvis Presley, whom she was a dedicated fan of, and the aroma of her delicious cabbage rolls. Connie found joy in watching her favorite TV show, “The Young and the Restless.” Her family affectionately called her “Mama.”
When she was younger, Connie was an adventurous biker chick who loved to travel. She was fearless and always did things her own way, not following the crowd. She even enjoyed ketchup on her pancakes, but she would never judge you for eating them differently. Connie was honest and fiercely loyal, standing by her family and friends no matter what. She adopted Elvis Presley’s motto “Taking care of business” and lived by it. Throughout her career, Connie worked for several notable organizations, including Saskatchewan Wheat Pool in Regina, SK, Phillips Publishers, and Trawin Seeds, both located in Melfort, SK.
Above all, Connie cherished her husband of 50 years, Ken, and considered him her greatest love and took immense pride in her children and grandchildren.
Connie’s vibrant personality was contagious, and her laughter could light up any room. She had a warm and welcoming nature that made everyone feel loved and valued. Connie was actively involved in the community as a member of the Jaycettes, and other events and causes. When cancer subjected much of her time to the sofa, she knitted countless dolls for soldiers to give to children while serving overseas. She held strong to the Lutheran Christian faith in which she was raised, throughout her life.
Connie Maureen Luthi is predeceased by her parents, Edward and Edith Moulds, in-laws Fritz and Edith Luthi, her son Terry, her brother Mark, and brother and sister-in-law Gabe and Shirley Benko. She is survived by her loving husband, Ken, her daughter Tina (Marty), son Cory (Robyn), grandchildren Ayden and Isaac Johnson, and Tristin (Danielle), Maya, and Autumn Luthi, her brothers Rodney and Kevin (Linda) Moulds, sister in law Heather Moulds, brother and sisters-in-law Jim and Julia Luthi, Bill and Debbie Luthi, Arnold and Donna Luthi, and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.
Connie will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She fought a long hard battle with cancer, but you never heard her complain. As long as Ken was by her side, life was beautiful. In her final years, dementia stole her away from those who loved her, little by little, every day. She is now at peace, whole again, reunited with Terry, Eddie, Edie, and all who have gone before her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and creativity will continue to inspire those she touched.
A service celebrating Connie’s life will be held from the Park Avenue Bible Church, Melfort, on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Marty Johnson officiating. The interment will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
Friends so wishing may make memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Parkland Place.
