Donatien Jean Coquet was born February 7, 1930 to Pierre Coquet and Marguerite Ferre on the family farm. He was the youngest of seven children. Don did his early schooling at Tilley school and finished his education at Gravelbourg. After leaving Gravelbourg he joined his father and brothers Lucien and Paul in the purchase of the Massey Harris dealership from Jacques Chevalier. They operated the business as P Coquet and Sons. As the business evolved Don had a few different business partners – his brother in-laws Frank Bourgault and Louis Rocher, Ernie Rouault and his niece Cecile Boyd and nephews Robert Coquet and Denis Coquet. Don married Florence Mahussier on August 12, 1952. Although Don and Florence had no children of their own their nieces and nephews were loved like their own. Aside from being a successful business man Don was a man with many passions. He taught himself to play the violin at an early age and set the bar in precision and accuracy at the Govan Fiddle festival, taking home the championship numerus times. Don was also a very competitive curler – he made it to the Saskatchewan Brier playoffs on a few occasions. Later in life he challenged himself to become a pilot making 128 successful landings at Acheninni Lake Camp.
Don was predeceased by his parents Pierre & Marguerite Coquet; his siblings Pierre J. Coquet, Marguerite Rocher, Louis Coquet, Lucien Coquet, Paul Coquet and Therese Bourgault.
He is survived by his wife Florence and fondly remembered and loved by many brother in laws, sister in laws, nieces and nephews.
