Warren Donnie Skiftun was born on May 14, 1967 in Melfort to parents Beatrice and Milen Skiftun. Donnie grew up on a family farm and was the second youngest of 6 siblings; Sharmayne, Delauria, Delaurin, Lynnell, Elmer and Jody. They all went to school in Kinistino.

He met his wife Celeste at Harlan’s in the summer of 1987 – she remembers a tall guy walking in with a mullet from hell and that he couldn’t stop staring at her. They quickly started their family in Melfort, having two girls, Joelyn (Lydia) and Kayrii and not long after moved out to the farm in Gronlid. He loved it out there except for the magpies and woodpeckers. One morning Donnie noticed a woodpecker outside of the kitchen window, right above the sink and he grabbed a 22 and decided that he was going to shoot it from inside of the house. Celeste quickly told him “you are not shooting that in the house” but Donnie did it anyway. He was always stubborn and would do what he wanted. In 2013, Aizlyn and Asher were born, moving Donnie into the roll of Grandpa which he was very proud to be. Aizlyn loved spending time with Papa and going for rides in the skid steer with him. Asher enjoyed playing trains with him.

Donnie was a workaholic and he did what he loved, working with vehicles, heavy equipment and of course, helping. If he wasn’t on the clock he was usually helping someone out of the goodness of his own heart, accepting only a thank you – or he could be found in his shop, working on his trucks, smoking and bullshitting with anyone that stopped by. He knew everybody, and everybody knew him, he will be missed and talked about for a long time.

Donnie’s interment has taken place in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Melfort.
