It is great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Einar Gudmund Strand on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the age of 81 years.
Forever remembered by his son Robert, daughter-in-law Irene; grandchildren: Kevin (Kaleigh), Breanna (Lyman), Aidan; great granddaughters: Charlotte and Violet and brother Ole.
He was predeceased by his parents Sigvold and Ingeborg and sisters: Solveig, Hjordis and Lila.
Einar was born in Estevan, SK but lived in the Spalding area all his life. He lived on the family farm for many years and even when he sold the farm, he enjoyed helping with the crops every fall harvest. He had a huge love of music, being part of the Western Swing Masters for many years. Einar played his keyboard and accordion at numerous occasions, until his final days at Church View Lodge. He would go to Polkafests all over the province every fall.
Einar loved people, going for coffee to talk about anything and everything with friends and neighbours. He always gave his opinions, whether you wanted to hear them or not.
His faith carried him through some difficult times in the last few years. He read his Bible and would go to bed every night with his Scripture readings.
In 2019, Einar was very happy and thankful to be able to have so many family and friends at his 80th birthday celebration with food, dancing and a good old jam session with fellow musicians.
Due to distance, Einar wasn’t able to see his grandchildren very often, but he was always very proud of them and their achievements.
A Memorial Service for Einar will be held at a later date in Naicam, SK. Memorial donations may be made in Einar’s name directly to the Naicam Ambulance or a Charity of One’s Choice.
