Elaine Genevieve Huber, 78, of Saskatoon, formerly of Tisdale, passed peacefully in her sleep on April 6, 2023, at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. Her predeceased parents, Carl and Louise Huber, were long term residents of Tisdale. Elaine was also the sister of two older brothers Leslie Donald Huber (who just passed March 2023 at Red Deer Hospital in Alberta) and Lorne Carl Huber (predeceased).
Elaine graduated from Tisdale high school and later secured her nursing degree from Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon (aka Saskatchewan Polytechnic). Like many nurses, she had the opportunity to work a variety of jobs including a brief time at Sherbrooke nursing home (Saskatoon) before moving on to the Regional Psychiatric Centre (RPC) also in Saskatoon. Although she accepted a position at Bowden Institution in Alberta, a few years later she returned to RPC to finish her career in nursing surrounded by colleagues who became friends over the years.
Elaine was predeceased by her daughter Michelle Lee who lost her battle with liver cancer. She is survived by Michelle’s two daughters Teisha Busse and Kina Press, along with Kina’s two daughters Callie and Adeline, all of Saskatoon. Additionally, Elaine is survived by her son Richard Huber and his wife Iliana, along with Richard’s son William Huber of southern Texas.
Known for her witty humor and sassy sarcasm, she was always a joy to talk to for hours and will be dearly missed.
The family will deliver Elaine’s ashes to her parent’s grave site at the Tisdale cemetery in early summer of this year, per her wishes. There will be no formal funeral.
