Ernst (Ernie) Hollinger
Dec 31,1929-Mar 17,2026
Ernie was born on the family farm in Neudorf and was 1 of 13 children. He went to the country school and then farmed with his dad and brothers. He met Marie at a country dance, they married Nov 9,1952, and completed their family having Cindy and Jana. Once they married they started their own mixed farming practise together. Ernie played softball and baseball, and was capable of playing various postitions well. Ernie took up golf while they were still in Neudorf and soon found it to be his passion. It is one that continued throughout his life and during his 93rd year he was still hitting it straight down the middle of the fairway. Once the snow came he turned to curling to fulfil his sporting needs. After golfing and curling games were done you would find him playing cards and having coffee. He loved to visit though it was never gossiping haha.
They moved to Star City in 1969 where Ernie bought a bulk oil business. After 10 years they made the move into the tourism industry by buying a motel at Waskesiu. They sold the motel in 1992 and retired to Melfort in 2001. Many lasting friendships were created everywhere they went.
