Evelyn Sjolin

Evelyn May Sjolin was born on March 12, 1933 and passed away peacefully at Parkland Place in Melfort, Sask on June 9, 2020 at the age of 87 yrs.
Evelyn was born in the Teddington region of Saskatchewan to parents Albert and Marguerite Thompson (Lemky). Albert Thompson came from England and Marguerite from Manitoba. She had 1 sister and 6 brothers, surviving are 2 brothers: Bill and Earl.
She met and married Alf Sjolin from the Kinistino area in 1950, together they farmed and raised a family.
Evelyn worked at the Kinistino branch of the Wapiti Regional Library, from 1973 to 1997 (over 20 years) and received a service award certificate. They farmed in the Kinistino area until 1998 and then moved to Melfort.
She was an avid gardener, and liked picking all types of fruit and veggies. She canned, pickled and preserved whatever could be used. She enjoyed fishing and was known for her crocheting, knitting and embroidery. Many men in the area had a siwash sweater designed and knitted by her. Later on she and her daughter crafted and sold items at the craft sales in Melfort.
Evelyn was a member of the Norden Hospital Aide, participated in whist card parties for the Norden area, and hosted liquid embroidery parties as well.
She was invaluable to her family, friends and neighbours. Evelyn was an open hearted, generous soul who was always there to lend a helping hand with a warm smile.
She leaves to mourn her passing one son Terry and 2 daughters: Judith (Larson-Dobrowolski) and Laura (Terry Dorratt). 1 granddaughter and 4 grandsons, 1 step granddaughter,2 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter.
You will not be forgotten – mom.
