Garry McKnight

Garry Allan McKnight was born in Mistatim, Saskatchewan on April 9, 1947 to Ida McKnight. The youngest of two, he spent his early years living at a homestead east of Mistatim, with his mother, sister and Grandpa Lanctot. He attended Deldale and Mistatim Schools.
He worked several jobs throughout his life including road construction and farming with Gordon Davidson, Stretten’s and Schwanke’s. He was a look-out for forest fires in the fire tower in Misatim. He was a foreman/field mechanic at the Tisdale Alfalfa Dehy Plant for many years. After the Dehy closed he worked at Wood Country in Tisdale until his retirement in 2016.
Garry married Marlene Magnus on November 20, 1971. They raised their family in Mistatim, where Garry was involved in many community activities. He was a council man for the Village of Mistatim for many years. He was a trainer for the Mistatim Warriors hockey team and continued with his love of hockey as a coach for several years for his son’s team. He was also a caretaker for the Mistatim Arena. Garry had many interests including wood-working, gardening, reading, watching true crime shows and spending time with his grandchildren.
He passed away in Tisdale, Saskatchewan on August 13, 2018. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Marlene, chidren: Tiffney McKnight, Shawn (Christina) McKnight and Kelly (Bruce) Andris; grandchildren: Tyson McKnight, Michael McKnight, Wyatt McKnight, Jordis Andris and Maverick Andris; sister Lorraine (Leonard) Doerksen and mother-in-law Lois Magnus; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is predeceased by his mother Ida McKnight (nee Lanctot), as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
