George Sholter went to be with his Lord in the early morning of August 1st, 2018 at the age of 85. He was born on the family farm south of Nipawin on April 24th, 1933 to John and Mary (Hluchaniuk) Sholter.
George grew up on the farm and attended a country school close by. He started farming at the age of 21. He worked in Saskatoon, Edmonton and Choiceland during the winter months. George returned to spend time with his aging parents showing them kindness and compassion. Friends and family were very important to him. Being a man of faith he enjoyed the fellowship at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
In 1975 he met the love of his life Gertrude Woelk. They were introduced by a mutual friend and married shortly after on April 3, 1976. Farming now became a partnership on NE 9-50-14 W2. They also enjoyed travelling to different parts of Canada, the U.S., Mexico and Cuba. In 1995 George and Gertrude decided to retire from farming.
George is survived by his loving wife Gertrude of 42 years, his sister Gertie and his sisters-in-law Lilli Welchman and Jean Sholter and brother-in-law Norm Losky and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents John and Mary Sholter, his brothers Steve, Alex, Donald, Peter, Dick and William and sisters Lena, Katie, Annie, Mary and Eleanor. Sisters-in-law: Sonia, Polly, Faye and Hazel. Brothers-in-law: Kasmer Bekesius, Frank Scott, George Zakowsky and Paul Osipenko.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to everyone for sharing their loss today. Your presence, prayers, deeds of kindness and words of love and support are all greatly appreciated. George will always be remembered and missed by those who knew him.
