Geraldine Rose Lukowski (nee Fitzpatrick) was born on June 9, 1945.
She spent most of her life in the Melfort area. Immediately following her high school graduation she packed her guitar and a bag and boarded a train to Waterton where she was going to work in hotel housekeeping. Back then she was very shy. She got so homesick that she returned to Melfort within the week.
It was shortly thereafter that she met the man she would spend the rest of her life with, Louis Lukowski. On November 2nd, 2018, they were married 55 years.
Mom was a very social person, always on the go. If her kids didn’t get a call at least once a week we knew she was busy living life to the fullest. She and Dad loved to dance. They floated beautifully across the dance floor.
Her family was her pride and joy. She was so excited when the whole family would get together on the farm. Barbeques, company and love would be in abundance.
Mom was a born performer although she didn’t know it until she was over 60. She and her two friends had a karaoke group called the Karaoke Gals. They would perform in various senior homes in the Melfort region bringing joy to all in attendance. Dad would sometimes accompany them and bust out his dancing shoes with a few of the senior ladies.
Mom’s love of music and singing had her setting new goals. One of her goals was to sing with a live band. She accomplished that for the first time at Melfort Fair. With that under her belt she kept performing and ended up performing at the Hillbilly Homestead; one of her favorite places to spend time.
She developed a performance character named Polly Parton complete with blonde wig, balloon boobs and a southern drawl. She was, after all, Dolly’s cousin thrice removed. Polly performed at PA Casino, senior homes,Hillbilly Homestead and various other places. Mom really enjoyed being Polly.
One of her bucket list wishes was to perform on the Rawlinson Centre stage. She accomplished this within the last few years. It was her first paid gig.
Mom is survived by her husband, Louis; her children; Troy (Trudy & their children Stephanie & Nolan); Teresa (Steve & their child Jace); Shawna (Colin and their children Breana, Connor & Ayla); Great Grandchild Kaycee; and our cousin brother Brian (Tammy & their children); her siblings: Michel (Audrey & family); Tony (Tammy); Candace (Richard & family); and her cousin brother Lloyd (Pauline & family); in addition to all those that loved her.
Those wishing to donate in her name may make contributions to STARS Air Ambulance.
We will miss her smile. Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
