Harry Wesnoski

Harry Wesnoski was born November 10, 1931 on the farm at Silver Park, SK to George and Mary Wesnoski. Harry completed his schooling up to Grade 8 then continued working in the Silver Park area. Harry worked for the Department of Highways for 13 years (1957-1970). He then went to work for the Town of Melfort in 1970. He held several positions including rink manager, sanitation and operator of the street sweeper and sander. Harry retired from the City of Melfort in 1990.
Harry married Eileen Evans in 1957. They were blessed with a son Ross in September 1961.
In 1974, Harry married Norma Hagen. Harry and Norma were married for 41 years until Norma’s passing in 2016. They enjoyed local horse shows, fairs, rodeos and their grandchildren’s school Christmas concerts and numerous sporting events.
In November of 1991 Harry became known as Grandpa Chum when his twin grandsons Devin and Ryan were born. He was again blessed in August 1995 with granddaughter Kaitlin Mary. His grandchildren were the joy of his retirement.
Harry had a lifelong passion for horses. He was a true horseman. He bought, sold, traded and trained many horses throughout his lifetime. He loved riding in Community Pastures and being on cattle drives. He gave countless riding lessons to his grandkids and people in the Melfort area. He is remembered by his grandkids to always say after the lesson “Now go have Fun”.
Harry was very proud that he was able to ride his horse Foxy until he was 80 years old.
Harry sold his house of 44 years and moved to Jubilee Place in Nipawin to be closer to family.
Due to declining health, Harry moved to Pineview Lodge Nipawin, SK on April 25, 2019.
He passed away peacefully at his residence in Pineview Lodge on May 31, 2019 at the age of 88 years.
Left to mourn and cherish his memory are his son and daughter-in-law: Ross and Barb; his grandchildren: Devin, Ryan (Larissa), Kaitlin (Sonny); siblings: Hank, Joe (Sheila), Peter, Gordon (Sandy), Doreen, Donnie (Janice); in-laws: Lyle (Sharon), Betty Hagen as well as many nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife Norma; his parents: George and Mary; two infant brothers; sisters: Lena, Marion and Helen; father and mother-in-law: Trygve and Agnes Hagen; sisters-in-law: Mary Wesnoski, Mary Hagen, Ruth Jordan, Edna Patrick, Jean Warring and brothers-in-law: Eric Parfitt, Bruce La Violette, Tony Dipolo, Stuart Jordan, Jim Patrick, George Warring, Rubin Hagen, Voyd Hagen; nephews: Brian Wesnoski and Ken Parfitt.
A Private Family Service for Harry will be held at a later date in the Silver Park Cemetery, Silver Park, SK.
