Joyce Velma Kjelshus

Mom was born November 21, 1932, in the Kew Gardens school district. She started school at Kew Gardens, walking three miles to get there. Later she rode a horse to school.
In August 1951, she married Tom Kjelshus. To this union sons Brian and Monte were born. In 1968, mom received her certificate for Swedish Massage and started her career in Lac Vert. Later she and Doris Williams worked together in Melfort.
In 1974 mom moved to B.C. working different retail jobs and received her Geriatric Aide Certificate working with homecare services.
Mom enjoyed crocheting, knitting and ceramics in her spare time.
Mom’s declining health brought her back to Melfort in 2011. She enjoyed visiting with friends, but her eyes lit up when the grandchildren and great grandchildren came to visit.
Mom moved to Parkland Place in October 2014, living there until her passing on January 9, 2023.
Left to mourn are her sons: Brian (Leslie) and their children: Craig and his son Mason; Melanie (Trent) and their children: Oakley, Holden, Armani and Nash; Darcel and her children: Anlie and Sterling; Monte (Lorraine) and their children: Jason (Hali) and daughter Sydney; Mike and his son Levin; Andrea (Kyle) and their children: Isabele and Noah; brothers: Wayne (Gloria), Elmer and his daughters; Natalie and family and Melissa.
A service celebrating Joyce’s life was held from the Fedusiak Funeral Chapel on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 2:00 PM with Brenda McCoshen officiating. The interment will take place at a later date in the Pleasantdale Cemetery.
Friends so wishing may make memorial contributions to the Pleasantdale Cemetery, or to a charity of one’s choice.
