Ken attended Haggstom School until grade 8 and then continued on in Kinistino.
After he left school he started his grocery business career with the OK Economy in Kinistino. He was also a milkman at one time as well as a restaurant manager.
Ken married Elizabeth Penner in 1965 and to this union Michael and Sandra were born. Elizabeth died in 1973. After this Ken, Michael and Sandra moved in with Ken’s mom in The Pas, Manitoba. Ken was in the grocery business once again.
In 1976 he met Gail Parkinson and they began dating in 1978. In 1979 Ken, Gail and the kids, Michael, Sandra, Darla and Debbie moved to Melfort. Ken went into business with his brother Gordon and started the Come and Go Grocery and Convenience.
Ken gave his life to the Lord in 1987 and Ken and Gail were married in 1988.
They spent many great years raising their kids and working hard at the store. They were fortunate to be able to travel as a couple to other countries and enjoyed camping as a family.
Ken and Gail retired from the grocery business in 1994.
Ken worked at Phillip’s Seed Farm for a time. He then sold vacuum cleaners and CAA until his retirement.
Ken and Gail moved to their cabin at the lake and lived “their dream”, sitting on the deck visiting and drinking coffee, sitting by the fire and going for quad rides. Ken and Gail enjoyed fishing, watching curling and doing puzzles.
They lived there year round until Ken’s health deteriorated and they moved to Yellow Creek for the winters.
Ken’s love for the Lord was so evident in his life. He loved to talk to everyone about his Saviour and the importance of prayer.
The last ten years or so were difficult for Ken as his COPD got worse but he never lost his sense of humor or his love for life.
On December 21st Ken fell and broke his hip. The trauma was just too much for his frail body and he could not recover. He went home to be with his Saviour at 2:30 a.m. December 28th in the RUH in Saskatoon with his family at his side.
He was predeceased by his father, mother, brothers Richard and Gordon, and first wife, Elizabeth. He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his loving wife, Gail, his children Michael, Sandra (Kevin), Darla (Gerald), Debbie (Al), his 9 grandchildren, Sara Joy, Tim, Thea, Corrie, Naomi, Rebecca, Alyssa, Jason and Etta, great grand daughter Ava and his sister, Dorothy (John).
