Kenneth Peterson

Kenneth William Peterson was born January 10, 1962 in Melfort to Lloyd and Ellie (nee Fisher) Peterson. He was raised in the Lac Vert area and took all his schooling in Naicam. After he graduated in 1980, Ken worked at various jobs, including Bill Charles, Scaife Construction, Naicam Co-op, Town of Naicam and most recently Kipabiskau Regional Park. Through-out his working career he also worked for Keith and Marg Carlson, who he developed a very close friendship with and acquired a second family. On July 2, 1983, Ken met someone special who become his best friend and soul mate, Linda Kager, and they were married on September 21, 1985. Ken enjoyed playing hockey with the Naicam Senior Hockey Club, golfing with friends at various golf courses, stock car racing with his brother, Carl and Linda, snowmobiling and quading, playing guitar and singing, and last but not least fishing with Linda and her dad, Frank. Ken and Linda always planned to retire at Kipabiskau Regional Park and with the passing of his father in 2011, he decided life was too short and he accepted the General Manager position at Kip, moving them there to enjoy all aspects of the lake. To Ken, Kip was not a job or a business to run; it was his community. He was available anytime, day or night, to help a park patron with whatever they needed to enjoy their stay in his park. Ken always was a kind, generous and helpful person, whether it was cleaning an elderly person’s driveway as he was going by with the Town tractor, helping a cabinholder get their water system up and running, rally lunch for Naicam Snowblaster’s or listening to a customer at the Co-op when no one else was able to understand him. Ken was very grateful for the friendships he and Linda developed with the organizations and communities he was involved with, but most proud of over 20 years with Naicam Ambulance and over 33 years with Naicam Fire and Rescue. Through these two organizations, another family was acquired. He felt blessed to have known such good people in all areas of his life, and appreciated the support received in the last year and half while he courageously and positively fought his battle with cancer.
Ken will loving be remembered and deeply missed by his wife Linda (nee Kager); brother Carl (Shelley) Peterson, and their family Melissa, Devin and Dylan, Sheena, Brendon, Aubrey and Mason; his sister Karen (Russ) Macnutt and family Sarah and Hannah; father-in-law Frank (Bev) Kager; brothers-in-law Curtis (Tracey) Kager and their family Teagan and Rylee, Michael (Shelley) Kager and their family Emilee and Nolan; along with numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Ellie Peterson; grandparents Peter and Dora Peterson and William and Sarah Fisher; step-grandma Maureen Fisher; mother-in-law Betty Kager; sister-in-law Gaylene Kager; nephew Dylan Peterson; and several relatives and special friends.
