It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Laura “Corinne” Rickbeil (Armitage) who passed away peacefully April 26, 2024. Corinne was born May 30, 1933 in Nipawin, SK to parents Roy and Laura Armitage. She and her siblings were raised on the farm west of Love, SK. She often told stories of walking two miles to school in spring and fall and by horse and toboggan in winter. There were also stories about bears and bed bugs to which she always said, “you just lived with them!”. She attended Northland School northwest of Love. Corinne, as she was always known, came to Melfort in the early 1950s and worked various jobs including the Melfort Union Hospital and Parkland Hospital.
She married Ted Rickbeil, a farmer, in 1954 and worked alongside him and loved to garden and grow flowers. She loved to be around people and organized family reunions and loved to cook for people and to entertain. Ted and Corinne became parents in 1964 when daughter Lori arrived.
Corinne loved to travel, especially with family and friends. In the 70’s they visited Hawaii with family. Then in the 80’s various trips to Arizona and southwest USA. Trips with family and grandkids continued in the 90’s to places like eastern Canada, the mountains and west, Florida and many camping trips with the grandkids to various places.
The most important thing in her life was her unwavering faith in her saviour Jesus. She joins her parents in heaven now, which is her true home.
She leaves to mourn husband Ted, daughter Lori Weisberg (Paul)(Saskatoon); siblings Delmer (d) (Doreen) Armitage (Edmonton), Shirley Wallis (Nipawin), Joyce Woolsey (Melfort), and Meritha (Dave) Reesor (Calgary); sister-in-law Eileen Smith (Calgary); grandchildren Avery Weisberg (Selene, great grandsons Orren and Remi) in Melfort and Ashlynn Weisberg in Saskatoon.
Corinne’s funeral service will be held from the Park Avenue Bible Church, Melfort, on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Phil Houston officiating. The interment will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
