Leslie George Murphy, better known as Les or Lester, was born to Elmer and Lorie Murphy of Star City, SK on May 7, 1968. Les unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at his home in Blind Bay, BC.
Les grew up on the farm by Star City along with his brothers Geoff and Rob. He did all of his schooling and graduated Grade 12 from the Star City School. Les loved working his hands and it was when working with his Uncle Dale, he began his career as a Cement Finisher.
When Les was 18, British Columbia was calling his name and he headed out West to find some work within the trade industry. He settled in Abbotsford and spent many years there, running his own company doing cement jobs across the Prairie provinces. Les enjoyed his time in Abbotsford and made many lifelong friends but eventually moved to Blind Bay, BC where he resided until his passing. Les was looking forward to moving back to Saskatchewan this Spring, after selling his home in Blind Bay, to be closer to family once again.
In his spare time, Les enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, kayaking, and keeping his wood pile high and his wood stove hot. If Les wasn’t busy working you could always find him in his shop catching up with one of his many friends or family on the phone or over a drink.
Les is survived by his parents Elmer and Lorie Murphy of Melfort, SK; his younger brothers: Geoff (Glenda) and children: Jacob and Lindsay; Rob (Kylee) and children: Kaitlyn, Alex, and Shelby all of Melfort, SK; Uncle Dale of Saskatoon, SK and Uncle Murray (Diana) of Lethbridge, AB; cousins: Lynn, Travis, Karmella, Darren, Kara-Lee, Tanya and Cody.
Les was predeceased by his Grandpa Bert and Grandma Annie Murphy, Grandpa Percy and Grandma Brita Rogers, as well as Uncle Rick Rogers.
Les had a big network of special friends across the Prairie provinces, and specifically in Blind Bay that supported him and will miss his daily phone calls and visits to catch up. The family thanks these friends for their support and help across the miles during this difficult time.
Rest Easy Les.
Friends so wishing, may make a donation in Les’s name to a charity in their community of their choice.
