Lorne was born May 26, 1935 in Kinistino, Saskatchewan to Henry and Edna Larson. In grade 10 he moved from the farm to Kinistino since the higher grades were not offered at the Viking School. After grade 12 he started working in a bank. He then moved to the OK Economy store in Saskatoon. He married Vivian Manson in Saskatoon on June 30th, 1955. They had met in school in Kinistino. They moved to Davidson where Kim and Lori were born. The next move was to Melfort to manage the OK Economy store. Kelly, Jay and Janet were born in Melfort. He and a partner purchased the East End Grocery in Melfort, then in 1971 saw another store purchase in Kinistino. Valley Department Store became both home and work for a few years. One customer who faithfully came in looking for a painter spurred Lorne’s “get it done” attitude, and his painting career was started. In 1980 after a few years of Lorne painting and Vivian running the store they decided to shut the store down and move back to their house in Melfort. Painting houses, fences and anywhere he could find a place to land his paint brush until his retirement. His family was always amazed at what surface he could find paint to stick.
Lorne is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Vivian. Sister-in-law Violet Lee.
