Lydia Marie Sterner, age 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Parkland Place in Melfort, SK. She was born July 2, 1940 in Humboldt, SK to Peter and Martha Mohninger. She graduated high school from St. Brieux, SK.
Lydia was employed by Sears and H & R Block in Melfort for many years. She married Alois Sterner on August 18, 1964.
She was predeceased by her parents Peter and Martha Mohninger; her brother Leonard Mohninger; parents-in-law, John and Katherine Sterner and in-laws: Joe (Annie) Sterner, Mary (Ben) Roenspies, Margaret (Gilbert) Albers, Agnes (Ted) Schemenauer, Kathie (Jim) Meyers, John Sterner Jr., Mike Sterner, Donald Hueser, Edwin Teiber and Madelyn Sterner.
Lydia is survived by her husband Alois; sister Shirley Jungwirth; niece Tracey Jungwirth; in-laws, Adolph Sterner, Alfred Sterner, Helen Hueser, Annamarie Teiber, Dave Sterner, George Sterner, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank the Parkland Place staff and special mention to her niece Tanya Teiber for their outstanding care of Lydia.
A Service Celebrating Lydia’s Life will be held from the Fedusiak Funeral Chapel, Melfort, on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Father Nick Ferreras presiding. The interment will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
