Marilyn passed away surrounded by loving family on Tuesday Feb. 27, 2024, after a long hard-fought battle with cancer.
Marilyn was born in Tisdale on November 11, 1957, the third of four children of Orvel and Madeleine Anderson. She grew up on the family farm near Valparaiso, and attended school in Tisdale, graduating from TUCS in 1975.
Marilyn was a kind caring soul with a big heart and spent most of her working years providing compassionate care to the residents of Parkland Hospital. She retired from Parkland in 2018 but spent additional years working casual.
On February 14, 1998 Marilyn married Les Petterson and moved to the farm near Kinistino. She worked hard on the farm, helping Les with the livestock, tending to the yard and garden while continuing to work at Parkland. After retirement she filled her days with baking, doing puzzles, crafting and going for coffee with her many friends. She enjoyed meeting people and had a remarkable ability to recall names and events. She knew everyone and their stories.
Marilyn will be lovingly remembered by her husband Les, son Christopher (Shauna) Anderson, grandson Seth, sisters Barb (Chris) Syrett, Phyllis (Glade) Penner, brother Jim (Lorraine) Anderson, nephews and nieces Logan and Shannon Syrett, Matt (Amber, Maya, Hannah) Penner, Cam (Tiffany, Banks) Penner, and Ross and Olivia Anderson and other extended family. She is also survived by in-laws John and Adele Petterson and a multitude of loyal and supportive friends. She was predeceased by her parents Orvel and Madeleine Anderson.
May she rest in peace.
Marilyn’s funeral service will be held from the Kinistino Community Centre, Kinistino, SK on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Kelly Taylor officiating. The interment will follow in the Kinistino Cemetery.
