Marjorie Jean Rieger, Marge as we all knew her, was born October 23, 1946 at the Melfort Union Hospital to Alfred and Mary Rieger. The family lived on the farm north of Gronlid until 1954, when they moved into Melfort. Marge attended Broadway School which was located right across the street from their home.
Marge was the apple of her parents’ eyes and was invaluable in helping them throughout the years. Gardening was a favorite pastime for Marge and she enjoyed their long drives throughout the countryside as Alf checked the crops or the spring water levels. It was especially pleasing if it ended up with a stop for an ice cream cone. Marge also had an uncanny ability to remember dates, especially birthdays and anniversaries of her family. She amazed everyone with that gift.
Mourning Marge’s passing are her sister Helen Thompson (Dale) and their children Deb, Darren, Sandra, Kevin and their families; brother-in-law Leonard Strandberg and his children, Lindsay, Steven, Nicolette and their families. As well several cousins and three friends who were very special to Marge; Leona Romaniuk, Kathy Anstey and Jim Goodlad.
Marge was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Mary Rieger, a sister Frances in infancy, and her sister Sharon.
