It is with love and thanksgiving, that we say good bye to Gramma Mary Kaminski. She left us peacefully on Sunday morning Dec.5th 2021 at 12:05 am, at the age of 95 ½ years. She finally decided that her husband, parents and all of her siblings were calling her. Her work here was done. She joins in with her loving husband Joseph of 62 years. She was the last of the 10 children of Matthew and Helen Miazga.
She will be fondly remembered by her children, Tom (Pat), Margaret (Dennis), Bernard (Pat), Juliana (Tony) and Barbara (Jim), her grandchildren, Michael, Nicole, Alexandria (Shane) Nicholas (Kara), Rebecca (Nolan), Erica, Daniel (Krista), Douglas (Kandace), Aaron, Elizabeth (Mike), Tennille (Jason) and Matthew, great-grandchildren, Stewart, Owen, Ivan, David, Olivia, Ava, Piper, Eve, Kenzie, Kashton, Krew, Aurora, Alice, Archer, and Locklyn.
Mary lived her entire life (with the exception of a few years in Saskatoon) in this Melfort area. It truly was her home. This hardworking “Lady” led her life with grace and dignity, partnering with Joe in all of his and her adventures, from farming, teaching, parenting, sewing, gardening, to dancing, scrubbing Danceland’s wooden floor, operating a dry-cleaning machine or tractor, and traveling, just to mention a few. There was always something cooking, in more ways than one.
Joe wore many hats, but Mary probably sewed them all. Her gift of hospitality was a little different then what Joe’s was, her door was open anytime for coffee, and the table was never bare. There was always enough food for an “army”! Her buns were requested more often than not for any gathering that was taking place in the community. They were even delicious frozen from the freezer. She was prepared to share her garden of food and flowers to anyone that was interested.
There wasn’t anything Mary could not sew, alter or mend. She had learned her craft first by sewing little curtains for her “Orange crate” cupboards on the farm, then she never looked back. She was always two years ahead of the fashion industry with her Vogue patterns and eye for detail. This blossomed into a lifelong love of elegance and design.
Mary has been an incredible role model for her strength of faith, devotion to the Virgin Mary and the Rosary. Mary was a member of the CWL for 68 years. When she could, she would attend daily Mass. There was always a prayer said for any one who asked or needed, without question.
“Daughter, your faith has made you well;
go in peace and be healed of your affliction.” Mark 5:34
Funeral Mass was held from Our Lady of Consolation Roman Catholic Church, Melfort, on Saturday, December 11, 2021 with Father George Canto officiating. The interment followed in St. Helen’s Cemetery.
