Norman Francis Allan was born on the home farm in the Florentine District on September 16, 1925 to Lessel and Isabelle Allan. He took all of his schooling at the Florentine School. He worked in the bush at Carrot River in the winter and farmed and worked in the Planer Mill in the summer.
Norman married Mary Kuny on July 3rd, 1947 and in July celebrated their 70th anniversary. They were blessed with 2 daughters; Caroline Mary in 1949 and Audrey Belle in 1952. Norman and Mary farmed in the Florentine District until 1954 then moved to the Eldersley area in 1964. Retirement brought Mary and Norman into Tisdale in 1980.
Norman worked as a carpenter for some time after moving to Tisdale. He built and sold houses, which included the house they lived in until April of 2013. When cutting grass and walking up and down all of the stairs, for ice cream, became too much to handle, they decided to try out the condo life and moved a few blocks away to the Maple Ridge Condos. In July, Mary finally convinced Norman that it was time to make the move to the Caleb Retirement Village. A simple life surrounded by family and friends is what made Norman’s life happy. He cherished every moment spent with family!
Norman is predeceased by his mother Isabelle and father Lessel, daughter Audrey, sisters Alma & Mabel, brothers Alec & Bill, 2 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, 1 niece, 4 nephews, and 1 great nephew.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Carol (Don) Brown, grandsons Chris (Jenna), their children Avrianna & Emmelyn, Josh (Devika), granddaughters Trina (Gerry) Sigrist their children Rylan & Ethan, Tracey Bennett, sons Drayton & Preston, Tammy Bennett (Kim) son Carter, sister Sheila (Gary) Freeden, brother-in-law Adam (May) Kuny as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
