LOVELL, Rita Louise (Nee:Righetti)

February 16, 1946 – May 20, 2026

With heavy hearts, the family of Rita Louise Lovell of Melfort, SK announces her peaceful passing, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the age of 80 years.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, John (Jack) Lovell; sister, Rose Degenhardt; and her parents: Joe and Jean Righetti.

Rita is lovingly remembered by her children: Kenneth (Jennifer) and Ronald (Rhonda); grandchildren: Jensen (Kailyn), Lincoln, Lucas and Madison; sisters, Rosetta (Wayne) Lang; Roberta Kyrylchuk; Ruth Cammell, brother, Robert Righetti; as well as numerous relatives and friends.

She will also be dearly missed by her special friends at the Diefenbaker Place and the Northeast Christian Fellowship Church.

Rita grew up at Odessa, Saskatchewan, after her schooling she moved to Keystown, SK, where she worked as a housekeeper and met the love of her life, Jack. Together they raised two children while operating the mink ranch, after the mink ranch closed, they operated a small market garden.

After Jack’s passing Rita then worked at Kalium Belle Plaine and then moved to Pense and later to Dalmeny to be with her sister, Rose. Her final home was in Melfort, where she cherished being near her grandchildren and formed many special friendships at Diefenbacher Place.

Rita had a special interest in the royal family and took great joy in collecting royal memorabilia. She also enjoyed dancing and attending bingos.

At Rita’s request, no service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, Rita’s family kindly asks that memorial donations be directed to the Melfort Hospital: PO Box 1480, Melfort, SK, S0E 1A0
