Robert Donald Stailing, resident of Melfort, Saskatchewan, formerly of Round Hill, Nova Scotia, passed away on June 12, 2019, at St. Paul’s hospital in Saskatoon at the age of 40. Robert was born in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, on October 9, 1978. He moved to Saskatchewan in 2004 following his big sister Tina, looking for better opportunities. Here he met his wife Carolyn and they were married in 2005. He worked at Irving Machine and Repair for 5 years and Plus Industries for 4 years where he helped disabled and special needs people to work and feel valuable. He helped them to do whatever they could and encouraged them to grow and learn through the difficulties in their lives.
In 2016, he obtained his Continuing Care Aide certificate and started working immediately at Parkland Place. Robert had a heart of gold and was always ready and willing to help anyone. Robert loved woodworking. He had a love of eagles and was proud of his large eagle collection. He also loved spending time on the lake fishing and boating. Being with his family was his world. He spent much of his time in the winter at the hockey rink with his boys or watching his nephews play. It became a family affair when Tyrell and Ethan got to play against their cousins from Tisdale. He cheered for both sides as he wanted to encourage them all.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Carolyn Stailing and their children: Madison (22), Ashlyn (19), Tyrell (12), Ethan (10) and Hunter (7 months) and grandchild Hanna (5 months); his mother Darlene Stailing (Toby); sisters: Dawn Stailing and Tina (Frank) Hayden and their children: Nathaniel, Leeanne and Jarod; sister Tammy Caldwell and her child Christine and brother Ivan Caldwell and his children: Timothy and Isabelle; mother and father-in-law: Cathy and Richard Armstrong; brother-in-law Michael (Lisa) Armstrong and their children: Katlin, Paige, Joshua and Matthew and grandchildren: Raeleigh, Danika and Aubrey; sister-in-law Sherri Armstrong (Anthony) and their children: Hailey and Sophia and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins both in Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia, and special cousin and friend Rhonda Hardwick.
He was predeceased by his father Donald ‘Donnie’ Stailing, cousin Tammy Foley and both paternal and maternal grandparents.
A service celebrating Robert’s life was held from the Star City United Church, Star City, SK on June 18, 2019 with Beth Baerwald officiating. The interment followed in the Star City Cemetery.
