Terry Allen John Zip was born in Hudson Bay on December 28, 1973 to parents Allen Zip and Judy Matlock. He grew up in Hudson Bay, where he attended elementary and high school. While in high school, Terry started as an apprentice at Blair’s Funeral Home in Hudson Bay.
After graduating in 1991, he moved to Porcupine Plain to continue his apprenticeship. It was there that he met Leanne Lisitza. Terry and Leanne were married in 1994. Soon after, they started their family, first Nayte (1998) and Taylor (2001). In 2008, Terry and Leanne purchased Blair’s Funeral Home.
Terry was a loving father and was very proud of his children’s accomplishments. He loved following Nayte’s hockey and Taylor’s dance, and was very proud of their achievements in school as well.
Terry was involved in many community groups and organizations, including the Porcupine Plain Fire Department, the Arena Association, Minor Baseball, the P.A.R.T.Y. Program, the Funeral and Cremation Service Council of Saskatchewan, as well as several local Boards. He also instructed the Funeral Directing Ethics and Jurisprudence class. Public service was also important to Terry and for many years he served as a town councillor and mayor of Porcupine Plain. Terry was also the president of the Kelvington /Wadena Sask Party Constituency.
Terry will be remembered and loved forever by his wife Leanne, his children Nayte and Taylor, his father Allen, mother Judy (Harold), brother Aaron (Leann) and Grandma Eva. He will also be greatly missed by his in-laws Lloyd & Linda, Lorinda, Lorelle (Dave), Lyndon, and all of his nieces and nephews (Tate, Jake, Ivy and Anna), and Grandma Lizzie.
