Verner Magnus

Verner Siegfried Magnus was born July 7, 1928 on a farm near Poznan (formerly part of Germany) to parents Ernest and Marie Magnus. Vern passed away at home in Caleb Village, in Tisdale, Saskatchewan on December 7, 2018 at the age of 90.
Verner immigrated to Canada with his family in July of 1929. He grew up on a farm northeast of Tisdale. He attended Evington School through to Grade 8. He took two years of correspondence and went to Three Hills, Alberta for his Grade 11.
Verner married Anne Jezewsky on October 11, 1954. Vern and Anne had two sons, Dale and Ken. They farmed until they moved to Tisdale in July of 1991. Verner was a proud farmer and the whole family was involved on the farm for many years. After they moved into town Vern retired from farming and became a guard at the police station. He became a member of the Lions Club and took up golf and curling. Vern and Anne became world travellers visiting many countries, including Germany several times.
Vern was predeceased by his wife Anne; parents Ernest and Marie Magnus; sister Hildagard Bromm, and brothers Ernest, Hans, Martin and Godfrey.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons and daughters in law: Dale (Lila) Magnus of Tisdale, SK, and Ken (Rollande) Magnus of East Bay, Nova Scotia; grandchildren Joline (Ryan) Bowditch of Sylvania, SK, Shane (Amanda) Magnus of Tisdale, SK, and Desiree Magnus of Sydney, Nova Scotia; great grandchildren Carlie Bowditch of Sylvania, SK, Amy Bowditch of Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA, Konnor and Shayden Magnus of Tisdale, SK, and Murray and Maryn Vassallo of Sydney, Nova Scotia.
