With love and sorrow, the family of Victor Edward Grodzinski announces his peaceful passing on December 5, 2025 at Newmarket Manor in Tisdale with family by his side.
Victor was the firstborn son of Michael and Emily (Matsalla) Grodzinski of Tiny, Saskatchewan. As a young man, Victor worked hard at various jobs travelling to many different provinces. The most rewarding of course was his job building elevators in Gronlid, Saskatchewan where he met the love of his life, Halia Petrow. Victor and Halia were united in marriage on October 23, 1960 and were blessed with two children, Perry Michael (1961) and Paulette Anne (1965).
In 1972, Victor and Halia moved their family to Melfort, Saskatchewan where he worked at Vickar Motors as a mechanic that later became Cheyanne Chev-Olds where he held the position of GM Service Manager. Victor was admired by many in the community for his exceptional service and received many awards including seven trips to honour his work. Following his retirement from GM, Victor continued to work for the City of Melfort for another 10 years at which time he decided he was ready to fully retire. Victor enjoyed the outdoors, camping at the Narrows in Waskesiu, riding his skidoos and breaking trails with his ATV up until just a few years ago.
Victor loved the Lord with all of his heart and said his most significant accomplishment was when he accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Saviour. By the grace of God he was just one year short of 50 years of sobriety and was grateful to God and the A.A. Program for this. It was no secret that he felt his greatest accomplishment was his family and he would light up at the mention of each and every grandchild and great-grandchild’s name. He was so proud of each of them.
In 2023, Victor & Halia sold their family home of 51 years and moved to Cumberland Villas in Tisdale, SK. They were welcomed into the community with open arms and have made many new friends they are so grateful for. Although his time there was short, it was a place he felt at home.
Victor was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Emily Grodzinski (Miko), and his step-father, John Miko, parents-in-law, Walter & Anne Petrow, brothers Lawrence Grodzinski and Melvin Miko, sister-in-law, Nettie Antonichuk, brothers-in-law, Willie Krizmanic, Dennis Engel, Peter Antonichuk and Taras Olynyk.
Victor leaves to mourn his loving wife of 65 years, Halia. His son, Perry (Della) Grodzinski of Regina and daughter, Paulette (Allan) Nordstrom of Melfort, SK. His grandchildren, Maxine (Curtis) Paterson of Saskatoon, SK, Harley (Carolyn) Grodzinski of Estevan, SK, Kali (Curtis) Bortis of White City, SK and Mason (Cori) Nordstrom of Rockwood, ON. Great-Grandchildren, Liam Paterson, Alexis, Malachi & Gracelyn Grodzinski, Cecilia & Charlotte Nordstrom and Haven Bortis. Also left to mourn are his sisters, Isabel Krizmanic of Yorkton, SK, Sonia Engel of Yorkton, SK, and Sandra Miko-Olynyk of High Level, AB and brother, Alexander Miko of Norquay, SK as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
