Melfort native named new assistant coach for Battlefords North Stars

The Battlefords North Stars have announced the hiring of a new assistant coach who will work alongside head coach Brayden Klimosko on the bench.

Rob Holoien, from Melfort, has coached the last two and half years for the Junior B Carrot River Outback Thunder hockey club.

While disappointed, SJHL president Bill Chow understands the process of selecting Team Canada West and has no concerns for the talent level in his league.

SJHL president disappointed, not concerned after players left off World Junior A Challenge

Dozens of the best Junior A hockey players from Canada, the United States, Russia, and Czech Republic will show off their skills starting Dec. 9 in Bonnyville, Alberta.

Unfortunately for the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL), none of its players will be participating.

On a day off between road games in Swift Current and Brandon, the Prince Albert Raiders pulled off the TransCanada Highway at White City and made the trip 70 kilometres southeast to Montmarte, a community that, like the Raiders, had lost one of its own this year.
