Physicians begin practicing at new Melfort medical centre

Nov 27, 2017 | 1:23 PM

Doctors in Melfort are now practicing at their new offices in the Wellness Centre adjacent to the city’s hospital.

The doctors working as part of the Family Physicians Group were previously in the Melfort Mall or Nirvana Clinic. Dr. Eben Strydom was among the doctors seeing patients in the new office.

“It is extremely exciting, it’s been in the works for a long time,” Strydom said.

The planning phase took roughly seven years, and construction another year. Strydom said the facility will help doctors streamline their work and make it easier for patients to access health services.

Nine of the 12 doctors will be fully relocated at the centre by Tuesday, while the other three will move over in the coming months. Strydom said having their offices beside the hospital will benefit both patient and doctor.

“[We’ve improved] our efficiencies to save time. It makes us much more productive and we can see patients more effectively,” he said.

The official grand opening of the centre is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 5.
