Mustangs back in win column; Hawks earn point in first loss in seven
The Melfort Mustangs shook off Friday’s heartbreaker versus Nipawin and clipped the Weyburn Red Wings 4-3 Saturday night.
The win secured the team three of four points during back-to-back home games at the Northern Lights Palace in front of the player’s parents, as every season the team schedules a weekend inviting parents to the games and other events.
Melfort took a 1-0 lead on Loch Morrison’s 12th of the year midway through the first period. The Wings drew even just three minutes later thanks to Sean Olson.
Weyburn took the lead in the second period before Justin Ball and Carson Albrecht scored for the Mustangs making it 3-2. The Wings’ Dexter Robinson scored late in the second and tied the score again heading into the final frame.
