Storefronts, pot store dominate Tisdale council agenda
Tisdale town council has agreed to assist in the upgrades of three downtown business storefronts.
Through the town’s Storefront Enhancement Grant, downtown businesses can apply for up to $5,000 in upgrades. In 2006, the town underwent a downtown revitalization initiative. Chief administrative officer Brad Hvidston said the project was a major undertaking.
“We redid all the bricks, the streetlights, and the benches, essentially a beautification process for the whole downtown area and part of that was some of the storefronts needed help,” Hvidston said.
Over a dozen businesses have taken advantage of the program. Owners must fall within a certain region of the downtown, and plans and quotes must be provided. The town covers half the bill while the store owners pay the rest.
