Tisdale renews incentives for commercial growth
Multiple commercial incentives for the Town of Tisdale were renewed during its council meeting on Dec. 20 to encourage economic growth in the community.
Some of the incentives include:
- 100 per cent tax exemption of increased assessment for three years for expansion or renovations of at least $50,000 for existing buildings
- 100 per cent tax exemption for three years for construction of new commercial buildings
- 50 per cent of the first year’s municipal taxes to a maximum of $2,000 and 25 per cent of the following year to a maximum of $1,000 for businesses starting in a commercial building which was vacant for at least six months
Brad Hvidston, Tisdale’s chief administrative officer, said the incentives are meant to give new businesses in town a break in their early years to help them get started and to establish new businesses.
