Nipawin hires Perry Trusty as economic and tourism development officer

A familiar face through Northeast Saskatchewan communities has found a new job in Nipawin.

The Town of Nipawin announced on Monday, Feb. 25 that Perry Trusty will serve as the town’s new economic and tourism development officer, previously held by Jayne Remenda.

Trusty worked on economic development for the City of Prince Albert, City of Melfort, and Town of Tisdale. He currently works on a contract basis with the Town of Langenburg.

Barry Elliott, Nipawin’s chief administrative officer, told northeastNOW administrators are pleased with Trusty’s resume and others areas of knowledge such as commercial investment attraction, industrial manufacturing, processing development, and supply chain management.

“His focus has been in those areas that the Town of Nipawin wants to have strong focus in: Business attraction, development, and industrial attraction,” Elliott said. “He’s shown through time that he’s well capable of making a difference in the communities he’s in and we’re looking for him to help this council and this community move forward.”

Elliott said Trusty will begin work on April 1, but plans for him to be in Nipawin for a few days to know the community and the tasks at hand.
