Water main repair

Water line repair work underway on Burrows Avenue in Melfort

Mar 12, 2019 | 9:53 AM

A water line repair in Melfort on Tuesday will lead to water being shut off for some businesses.

The 100 block of Burrows Ave. W. will be without water for most of the day while the repairs take place.

Melfort’s Director of Works and Utilities Gerald Gilmore said that the work was planned in advance.

“This is due to a large section of pavement pushed up by the pressure escaping from the water main,” Gilmore said.

Once work is completed, the block will be on a precautionary drinking water advisory.

The Golden Grain Bakery had a post on their Facebook page stating that they would be open for pick-ups but their sit-in area and washrooms would be closed for the day.

RJ’s Urban Garden Cafe will also be closed for the day while water is shut off, and will open again on Wednesday.
