A cold chase

Saskatoon police plane clocks biker going 250 km/h

Mar 14, 2019 | 10:44 AM

UPDATE: Jonah Vanderlinden, 20, of Swanson, Sask., was charged with three counts of flight from a peace officer, and dangerous driving as a result of the incident. He will appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on May 8 at 2 p.m.

The Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) Air Support Unit took to Twitter on Tuesday night to share a first.

Police recorded a motorcycle travelling 250 km/h on a secondary highway near Vanscoy.

According to the pilot, this is most likely a speed record for the air support unit.

The SPS plane tracked the driver heading south on Highway 45 from Delisle. The driver eventually dumped the bike and ran, according to police.

In a statement Wednesday, Saskatoon police said the file was turned over to the RCMP in the area.
