Longtime council member elected Chief at Muskoday

A man who has been a member of council at Muskoday First Nation for 32 years, was elected chief yesterday.

According to the results from Thursday’s election, Herman Crain won with 303 votes. Sandi Leboeuf received 120 votes, and Sandra Burns had 88 votes.

During his campaign, Crain told paNOW he would work to provide more programs for youth, and address poverty and addictions issues on the reserve.

The five elected councilors are Beryl Bear, Randy Bear, Delbert Bear, Everett Bear, and Merle Crain.

Muskoday First Nation, located southeast of Prince Albert, has not had a new chief in almost 30 years.
